2011-12 Operating Budget: Heading into Monday’s Regular Meeting

Here is the most recent coverage from the Robertson County Times of the August 2, 2011 Robertson County Commission Budget Committee Meeting. The article covers some of the rates in sister counties – remember, I did the same thing back in April by looking at a good part of Middle Tennessee.

My summary can be found here.
As we head into Monday’s Regular Meeting, we will have an up-and-down vote on the 2011-12 Operating Budget.
I am still committed to not raising your property taxes. We have a long way to go, and I do not think we have adequately explored the budget in its current form.

  1. $.40????? Thank you for your stand on NOT raising property taxes. Do most of the people in government not understand that many of us have not had a pay raise in years or are unemployed? Learn to live with what you have and if that means no raises, then you are in the same boat as the rest of us. And cuts should start at the top.

  2. I also agree with your stand on NOT RAISING the tax rate but also I am aware of previous commissions who spent the money but then did not have the fortitude to do anything except "kick the can" on down the road (Sounds like they would fit in real well with the present congress). Some of these are gone and more need to be gone so a plan to last beyond the next election cycle can be implemented and followed. Lock-up the check book until a sound plan is implemented. A tax rate--hopefully with no increase--can be set.
