A quick note on the Personnel Committee:

There is an upcoming meeting scheduled for October 20, 2011. Now that the 2011-12 Operating Budget process is over, the Personnel Committee will endeavor to update the Robertson County Employee Handbook.

Several Department Heads have already submitted suggested edits.

County Vehicle Usage

This is a Gallatin news-story worthy of a short note. It would appear that a county automobile may have been used inappropriately.

I say that this is a news-story worthy of a short note because I have consistently heard similar inquiries about some of our own county automobiles. I know several fellow commissioners have expressed that they, too, have heard several reports from constituents.

One thing that I envision our Personnel Committee taking a look at in our comprehensive review of the Robertson County Employee Handbook, is the usage of automobiles supplied to various departments.

Also, do not forget the Joint Meeting between the School Board and the City of Springfield. That meeting will be at Springfield City Hall on Tuesday evening. (for more information, see my post here)

Though not noted, I believe that the Budget Committee meeting has been continued to this Thursday. If that is so, these meetings are customarily at 5:00pm.

Worth the Looking At

I wanted to pass along a note to go along with Jim Bellis’s reporting in his “County Commission to Examine Employee Policies”  

We will certainly being doing just that in the coming months. As this particular issue unraveled (w/EMS), more and more aspects of the Employee Handbook appear to be out-of-date and/or not a good fit for Robertson County.

The current Employee Handbook was last substantively updated back in the mid-1990s.

At the last RCC Personnel Committee Meeting,  the Committee asked that each department head submit issues they note for the Committee to consider. Further, the Committee has already begun the process of requesting and receiving Employee Handbooks from other counties to begin a process of comparing and contrasting handbooks.
