The votes in alderperson's race in the City of Springfield and the city commissioner's race in the City of Cedar Hill have been tallied.
The Robertson County Election Commission counted nine provisional and property rights ballots, none of which impacted the outcome of the close municipal races in Springfield Ward 6 and Cedar Hill city commission. The incumbents of both races lost by one vote each as a result.
The results were made official after the Election Commission certified the votes on Monday, Nov. 19.
“[The election is] over,” said Sneed in an email about his reaction to the win. “Let’s get to work.”
None of the previously uncounted provisional and property rights ballots were for either the Springfield Ward 6 alderman race between incumbent Shane Shoemaker, former alderman Henry Clay Sneed or Johnny Mack Brown or for the Cedar Hill commissioner race between incumbent Tom Richards and Martha (Muffy) Arrington.
In Ward 6, Shoemaker received 348 votes while Sneed received 349 votes and Brown received 109 votes.
Shoemaker, who defeated Sneed in the 2009 Ward 6 race by five votes, said that he thought this year’s race would be close despite others who believed otherwise.
